Heineken Regatta 2013
This event runs from 26th February - 5th March 2013. This is a serious 3 day racing event, with fantastic sailing conditions off the French/Dutch island of St Martin/St Maarten. It's always great fun both on and off the water. We offer both whole boat charter, and individual crew spaces.
What to expect:
On arrival at St Martin, after joining Skyelark in the marina you'll have the chance to meet your fellow crew members and have some time to relax, explore the area and settle in onboard.
Tuesday, February 27th
Our first training day, where we focus on getting used to the boat and finding your sea legs as we practise safety drills, boat manoeuvres and sail handling out on the water.
Wednesday, February 28th
Concentrating on getting the best out of the boat, finding crew positions, trimming and spinnaker work.
Thursday, March 1st
Lay day - relax and rest, go to the beach, meet the competition and have a lazy lunch - you're on the race course tomorrow!
Friday, March 2nd
Race one - round the island finishing in Simpson Bay, followed by a beach party at Great Bay.
Saturday, March 3rd
Race two - a round the cans race, starting from Simpson Bay and finishing on the French side at Marigot. Spend the night there and go to the waterfront party.
Sunday, March 4th
Final race - a round the cans race from Marigot to Simpson Bay, followed by prize giving and the final party.
Monday, March 5th
Recover and return home!
In the evenings you can expect a crew dinner ashore followed by as much of a party scene as you would like. The atmosphere around Heineken is electric, with special parties and big name bands on the main stage.
